(Serves 4-6)
We love to make ice cream and sorbet at home. When I take the machine out, my son immediately gets super excited. He loves to watch the liquid turn into frozen deliciousness. This recipe for Basil Peach sorbet only needs a few ingredients and is so simple to make. The subtle basil flavor adds an interesting herbal complement to the sweet peaches. I like to serve this on its own in cocktail glass to make it “fancy”. It also makes a great adult float by adding a scoop to a glass of prosecco. Either way it is a refreshing sweet treat.
You Will Need:
- 1-pound frozen peaches, thawed
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup water
- 4-5 basil leaves and/or stems
- 1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Small pinch Kosher salt
Instructions:
- Place the water and sugar in a small saucepan. Tear the basil leaves/stems and add to the sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- While the syrup cools, place the peaches, a pinch of salt and the vanilla into the blender.
- Remove the basil leaves/stems, add the syrup to the blender as well.
- Blend until smooth. Refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight.
- Churn the mixture in your ice cream maker per the manufacturer’s instructions. I use https://amzn.to/4eaqmK8 (paid link).
- Serve straight from the machine for a softer sorbet or place in a container and freeze until firm. I love these containers https://amzn.to/4aNknrE (paid link).
